| This is a MK 83 bomb that Israel dropped near Srifa, Lebanon in July 2006. It is one of nearly one million unexploded munitions (UXO) that are estimated to be in Southern Lebanon due to the Israeli attack of 2006. The hazard of all of this UXO will persist in Lebanon for years - in fact, decades. Here, after evacuating a 1 km radius of all people around the bomb site, a UN Belgium team has defused the bomb and is loading it onto a truck to dispose of it.
